CYBER ESSENTIALS PLUS
Cyber Essentials is a UK government-backed, industry-supported scheme that provides a set of basic technical controls to help organisations protect themselves against common cyber threats.
Cyber Essentials Plus is an extension of the Cyber Essentials certification, which includes an independent assessment of an organisation’s cyber security measures. The benefits of Cyber Essentials Plus certification for Opus include customer reassurance, protection of sensitive data and intellectual property, compliance with tender requirements, and increased IT awareness.
Additionally, Cyber Essentials Plus includes authenticated vulnerability scanning, vulnerability scanning of external infrastructure, password guessing tests, email attachment and web browser download checks, and review of mobile devices.
Opus must ensure that its IT systems are updated and security controls remain effective to maintain its Cyber Essentials Plus certification. The ongoing checklist includes keeping software up to date, using suitable firewalls, ensuring strong passwords are used, changing passwords regularly, ensuring patch management processes are robust, and ensuring device software and applications are up-to-date.
