Mitel MiCollab Release 9.2 has just been confirmed by Mitel this week. This release provides numerous features and enhancements designed to improve telephony capabilities, user productivity, and security protocols.
Mitel MiCollab is a unified collaboration suite that aligns with how employees prefer to connect in today’s fast-paced environment, whether they are in the office, working remotely, or on the go.
With more than 2 million users globally, MiCollab makes team collaboration simple with integrated voice, video, messaging, presence, and conferencing capabilities to streamline the way employees talk, meet and share information.
What’s New in MiCollab Release 9.2
MiCollab Release 9.2 is a full maintenance release that delivers a new server load as well as new client releases. In addition to security, privacy, and bug fixes it also provides several new features. The following sections describe the new features included in MiCollab 9.2.
Telephony Enhancements
MiVoice Business – Flexible CLI
Employees will be able to designate specific outbound numbers when placing calls. This feature is valuable for employees who serve multiple roles (i.e Sales & Support) within their organisation and want to designate specific outbound calling numbers depending on each role.
MiVoice Business – Present group call information
With earlier MiCollab versions, calls made into a group alert did not contain the call number information (i.e. the group number). With MiCollab 9.2 this information is now presented to the user in the call notification.
Usability Enhancements
Chat Cache
MiCollab 9.2 supports a chat cache function to decrease the chat load time and give users access to CloudLink Chat when offline.
Name Sorting
Users can now select the sort order of first and last name of Contacts and search results by using the Name Sorting option.
Swipe to Delete
MiCollab users on the mobile client will be able to “swipe to delete” to remove messages and call information within the application.
Mobile Search Bar
To reduce the number of taps needed to find the right contact in the mobile client, the user will have access to the search bar through a search icon that will be displayed at the top of the application all the time.
Always Show Dial Pad Option
For many MiCollab users, dialling out with the dial pad is the most vital part of the MiCollab mobile app. MiCollab 9.2 now gives users the option to configure the dial pad panel to always be the first panel the user will see.
Audio Web Video (AWV) Enhancements
Customise AWV Email Invitation
MiCollab 9.2 provides the ability to customise the AWV invitation email. Initiation emails are sent out when inviting to meetings from:
- Outlook plugin
- Ad-hoc meeting
- End User Portal
Using the Custom template, the admin can make the following changes:
- Change the text against each item
- Select if the fields should be displayed in the calendar invite
- Change the order of the items to be displayed in the calendar invite
Native MiShare for Chrome
From MiCollab 9.2 onwards, the MiCollab Audio, Web and Video Web Sharing plugin for Chrome browsers will be replaced with the MiShareApp application to perform Web Sharing.
Security and Privacy
Upgrade OAuth Authentication in Calendar Integration for Office 365
To address Microsoft change of Office 365 online Basic Authentication policy changes, MiCollab 9.2 and onwards will use the Open Standard for Authentication 2.0 (OAuth2.0) authentication protocol for Calendar Integration with Office365 online. To enable OAuth2.0 and Calendar Integration for Office365, configuration is required at MSL followed by configuration at UCA server. The MiCollab and MSL documentation will give clear instructions on what actions to perform.
Once the configuration of OAuth 2.0 is successful at MSL, the admin will be required to enable the Calendar Integration from the MiCollab Client Service.
Secure LDAP
From MiCollab 9.2 onwards, two new security methods are added to connect to the directory server. This setting determines the level of security in the connection between MiCollab and Active Directory.
System User Account Password Policy
The password strength rules, and its complexity are updated for administrative accounts. The new rules will be enforced the next time that a new admin account is created, or the password is updated on an existing admin account. As part of these changes, the minimum password length is now 8 characters.
TLS 1.2 for AWV Web Sharing
AWV now supports TLS 1.2.
Admin Enhancements
CloudLink Default for New Installations
CloudLink chat was added to MiCollab 9.0, but the administrator had to actively turn it on for new installations. With MiCollab 9.2, CloudLink chat will be the default chat configuration for any new installation.
Integrated Mode for New Installations
With MiCollab 9.2, any new installation will be set to integrated mode by default.
ForgeRock (Oracle) LDAP Support
MiCollab 9.2 program has verified ForgeRock LDAP as a directory source for MiCollab IDS.
