Here are the details from our carbon reduction plan
Supplier Name: Opus Business Systems Ltd T/a Opus Telecoms
Publication Date: October 2024
Opus is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.
This is the first time we have reported our carbon footprint, so this calculation establishes our baseline.
The year is based on our Financial Year and runs May-April.
The primary operations and activities that account for scope 1 and 2 emissions include the use of fuel for company vehicles and electricity consumption. The base year emissions cover 100% of scope 1 and 2 emissions.
Scope 3 emissions reporting includes Business travel/Hotel Stays, Business Mileage (Non-Company Car) and Waste generated in operations *assumption
Our baseline deviates from the requirements of PPN 06/21 as there is no historic reporting in Scope 3 for –
Employee commuting
Upstream transportation and distribution
Downstream transportation and distribution.

*There is no gas supply at the premises and all company owned vehicles are electric so there is no data to report in scope 1.
Our baseline target was set whilst not measuring sections of scope 3 due to no historic reporting.
Our target needs to increase to take in consideration the growth in the company and the slow phased return to work from the office.
Focusing on carbon reduction per employee will produce a more accurate report on what Opus is doing to reduce their overall carbon footprint. Opus is committed to reducing their CO2 footprint however they must take into consideration the growth of the Opus group in terms of business and employees. Therefore, measuring CO2 output per employee is a more relative metric for Opus to track and reduce.
In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we project that carbon emissions will decrease per employee by 14% over the next five years.
Progress against these targets can be seen in the graph below:
The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2019 baseline.
In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:
